I thought I'd take this time to answer some of the questions I've received over the last few weeks. :) All of these will apply to the SUMMER PROGRAM :)
1. Are children who are not potty trained allowed in the program? Yes. This is not the case during the "regular" school year, as all children must be about 3.5. But for the summer time, yes. For children who are not potty trained, diapers, wipes and a change of clothes must be provided. (A change of clothes should always be available for all children).
2. What about children with special needs? Is there a place for them in the summer program? Absolutely. I have taught students with special needs before and welcome the opportunity to do so again. However, being in a home environment (as opposed to a "typical" school setting) does have its own challenges. For those reasons, sometimes our home may not be the best place for your child. If you are a parent of a child with special needs, please arrange a one-on-one meeting with me so that we can determine if our home is a productive and safe place for your child.
3. Can I enroll my child for just PART of the summer instead of the whole 10 weeks? Yes, you may. I ask that all kiddos be enrolled for a minimum of 3 weeks and that their full tuition be paid on their 1st day of class. (This is just to make it easier for parents and myself and have all of that taken care of when the child starts the program).
4. Do I need to bring lunches and snacks? You need to bring a lunch each day for your child. ** PLEASE BRING 2 SMALL OR ONE LARGE DRINK FOR YOUR CHILD EACH DAY SINCE IT IS SUMMERTIME AND IT DOES GET VERY HOT. ** I will also have water on hand. I ask that each parent bring 1-2 big snacks at the beginning of the summer (or on their child's first day/week). I will serve these for morning snacks (with the exception of a child having an allergy to a snack, of course.) **NO NUTS PLEASE**
5. What else do I need to bring for my child? Your child needs a nap mat. (You can buy small ones at the store or I have a mom who makes great, long-lasting, ones). They also need the following:
* A folder and/or backpack (both are preferred) with your child's FULL NAME on it
* 1 package of glue sticks
* 1 package of regular, washable markers
* 1 package of crayons
* 1 package of multi-colored construction paper
* Anything your child would like to sleep with (Sleep items need to fit in their backpack or be small enough to be folded up. This is to save space in our classroom).
Miss Melissa will provide the rest of the materials.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email (m_adams73@hotmail.com) or on here or FB. I am so excited about this summer program and look forward to all the awesome kiddos I'm going to get to work with!
thank you!
Ms.Melissa
